Dear Council Members,

We hope this message finds you well.

We at the NP Council of Miami wanted to share an important update regarding our recent legislative efforts in Florida. Unfortunately, our priority bills did not pass this session—a disappointing outcome for all of us who continue to advocate for greater autonomy, one day Full Practice Authority, and improved patient care through Nurse Practitioner-led initiatives.

While this is a setback, it also presents a renewed opportunity. With legislators now back in their home districts, this is the most critical time to engage. Our voices carry more weight when lawmakers are closer to their constituents and hearing directly from those they serve. Please see this year's bill we tracked closely:

TRACKED BILLS
HB 883 (2025) Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Autonomous Practice
SENATE - Indefinitely postponed and withdrawn from consideration
SB 152 (2025) Protection from Surgical Smoke
SENATE - Indefinitely postponed and withdrawn from consideration
SB 566 (2025) Patient-directed Medical Orders
SENATE - Indefinitely postponed and withdrawn from consideration
SB 758 (2025) Autonomous Practice by Certain Psychiatric Nurses
SENATE - Indefinitely postponed and withdrawn from consideration
CS/CS/SB 526 (2025) Nursing Education Programs
SENATE - Indefinitely postponed and withdrawn from consideration
CS/CS/SB 172 (2025) Health Care Practitioner Specialty Titles and Designations
HOUSE - Indefinitely postponed and withdrawn from consideration
CS/CS/HB 1341 (2025) Health Care Practitioner Identification
HOUSE - Indefinitely postponed and withdrawn from consideration

We strongly encourage each of you to reach out to your local state legislators. Share your stories, emphasize the value we advanced practice nurses bring to healthcare, and advocate for the support of future NP-related legislation. Grassroots engagement is powerful—and necessary—if we want to see meaningful change. Currently there are 3 Senators in the Florida Senate, that refuse to hear any APRN related bills: Burton, District 12 from Polk County, Republican; Harrell, District 31, Martin, Palm Beach and St Lucie counties, Republican; and Passidomo, District 28, Lee, Henry, Collier counties, Republican. We have 3 Democrats in the House that are also anti-APRN as well: Bartleman, District 103, Broward; Rosenwald, District 98 Broward, and Skidmore, District 92 Palm Beach county.

If you need assistance locating your legislators or talking points for outreach, please let us know. We can also collaborate as a council to organize collective action in our communities. Below are our current state legislators and Health and Human Services Committee Members:
