Urgent: APRN Advocacy Needed!
Posted over 5 years ago by Thomas Schlepko
Attention APRN's!
This week has been a busy legislative week thus far. The Senate Appropriations committee has added NP Full practice authority (FPA) language to the Senate Bill SB1676 (http://flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2020/1676). Members of the Miami Dade Council of Nurse Practitioners were there to support this. The Senate bill will now head to the Senate floor for a vote. The bill is far from perfect, but, on the positive side, it is the first time the Senate has brought a FPA bill to the Senate floor.
On the House side, HB607 (now added to HB7053 http://flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2020/7053 to match SB1676) has moved to the house floor for a vote. We anticipate they will make it through with little difficulty.
The Senate side is our biggest challenge, so we need URGENT ACTION from our members, our colleagues, our families, and our patients. HB607/HB7053 has the FPA language that is better for the health of Floridians, so we are asking that you contact your senators and request that they support the language in HB607/HB7053 and have it placed in SB1676.

Please forward this far and wide. Next week is the last week of the legislative session, so any unpassed bills will be legislatively dead and require us to start again next year. Now is our time. Please step up to the challenge!!
