The House HHS committee prepared HB 607 into a better form today that now can be the companion to SB1676! It passed unanimously by those in the meeting - If you watched the live feed - listen to Dr. Pigman who was quite eloquent, passionate about being a physician who supports NPs and a champion for his 21st presentation of the independent NP Bill! (see the attached clip) Physician groups started to get up and leave at that point! NP Council president, Mark Fonseca, and legislative chair, Ana Harwood, were there to witness it.
NOW we need more support from Senators. SB1676 will be heard Tuesday (3/4) by the Senate Appropriations Committee. SB1676 has a proposed amendment that will be heard that adds NP FPA languaging, but, at this time, it is a BAD deal (http://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2020/1676/Amendment/281464/PDF).
We need everyone to contact their state senator to know that we want a bill with HB607 languaging. Use the approved talking points though. We also need NPs in Tallahassee for next week. If you can get there for that day and bring other NPs then that would be great. The NP Council is going up again next week, so contact us if you are interested.
