Overview

Pulmonary Fibrosis Evaluation and Treatment

Learning Objectives

  1. Provide an overview of the clinical manifestations associated, but often overlooked in pulmonary fibrosis.
  2. Compare and Contrast pharmacotherapy delivery methods for individuals with pulmonary fibrosis.
  3. Apply pharmacologic treatment options based on the most current available evidence for individuals with pulmonary fibrosis by examining case studies.
  4. Discuss antifibrotic drug therapies used in pulmonary fibrosis, pirfenidone and nintedanib.
  5. Explain immunosuppressive therapy used in pulmonary fibrosis.
  6. Discuss smoking cessation pharmacotherapeutic options.
  7. Describe appropriate use of corticosteroids in pulmonary fibrosis.
  8. Evaluate the comorbid complications associated with pulmonary fibrosis.
  9. Identify medications used for comorbid conditions.

Julia Rogers
Julia Rogers DNP, APRN, CNS, FNP-BC, FAANP

Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Educator

Dr. Rogers extends her knowledge to doctoral, graduate and undergraduate nursing students as an Assistant Professor and current coordinator for the Doctor of Nursing program at Purdue University Northwest in the College of Nursing. She is certified through the ANCC as a family nurse practitioner and is currently working in Pulmonary and Critical Care. Dr. Rogers is a fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Mu Omega chapter, and a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She represents the American Nurses Association as a CPT advisory committee member to the American Medical Association’s CPT editorial panel. Her research interests include pathophysiology, 3D visualization for nursing education, and new faculty orientation. She is an accomplished presenter at the national, state, and local level, where she has presented on an array of topics for both nurse educators and nurse practitioners. Dr. Rogers has been the editor and author of three pathophysiology textbooks and serves as the billing and coding column coordinator for The Nurse Practitioner Journal.
